Dear Parents/Guardians:

Nebo School District values the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families. As you are aware, there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Utah. We are not aware of any confirmed cases in our local community or schools.

Nebo District is working with local, state and national health agencies and experts on prevention and management in the event of an outbreak in our district. Nebo School District follows local, state, and national health care expert guidance and recommendations. We are sharing this information so you are aware and can help reduce the spread of infection.  The best ways to reduce the risk of getting this or any viral respiratory infection include:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces
  • Stay at home away from others if you are sick
  • Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
  • Do not bring your student to school or come to work at school if you have cold or flu-like symptoms (elevated temperature, fever, cough, shortness of breath).

The Utah Department of Health has extensive information on their website to address questions from the public. If you have questions regarding the Coronavirus, including how the virus is spread, and what to do if you have symptoms, you may want to visit the Utah Department of Health website:  https://health.utah.gov/

For the most up-to-date information, it is recommended that you visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.  You will be taken to their website if you click the following link:  https://www.cdc.gov/

Nebo School District takes this health risk very seriously. Nebo schools have been directed to increase prevention practices such as increased sanitation techniques and practices, monitoring of school sickness rates, and preparation for online schooling in the event that a school is closed.  Out-of-state travel has been cancelled beginning immediately for at least two weeks, as per request of the State’s Coronavirus Task Force.  Other school travel is also being reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

School dismissal or closure is under the direction of the Utah County Board of Health.  Nebo School District is working very closely with the County Board of Health to safeguard students, staff, and communities of Nebo School District.

If cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) are confirmed in our community or in connection to our schools, we will immediately notify families and employees while taking the steps necessary to minimize the impact in our schools and communities.  For additional information regarding how Nebo School District is addressing COVID-19, including the most recent updates, please visit our website at http://www.nebo.edu/.

Thank you for your support and patience as we maneuver through the complexities of how to address this community challenge.
