Kindergarteners Love to Write

Submitted by courtney.corbin on

Kindergarten classes have been learning a lot this year!  One of their favorite things to do is WRITE! Students in Mrs. Platt, Mrs. Wickel and Mrs. Lowe’s classes have been working hard increasing their writing skills by practicing letter formation, finger spaces and even words!  We can’t wait to see what these tiny tigers can do!

Thanksgiving Point Visits 3rd Grade

Submitted by courtney.corbin on

Third graders are learning about life cycles and were lucky enough to have Thanksgiving Point Outreach Program visit!  Students studied the life cycles of beetles and tulip bulbs by observing, recording and making models.  Students' favorite part was the new addition to their classrooms...a terrarium filled with grass seed to watch the stages of the life cycle!  (There may be a few creepy crawlies in the soil as well!) Thank you Thanksgiving Point for helping science come alive for our students!

We Love Mrs. Mayhew!

Mrs. Mayhew has a new job this year...she is our ESSR Reading Intervention teacher and works with students in every grade.  After teaching Kindergarten, 1st grade and 4th grade, she has an extensive background in literacy instruction. Students who work with Mrs. Mayhew on a daily basis are deepening their reading and phonics skills in a variety of ways.  Taylor is so lucky to have her as a resource to ensure all students will learn at high levels, especially in reading!

Third graders enjoyed a Halloween field trip to the Scera Theater in Orem. Students watched a live performance of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow!  At the end of the performance, the actors, let students ask questions about their experiences in the play. It was a perfect way to spend Halloween!

Halloween Fun!

Halloween at Taylor is always an exciting time!  Teachers dressed up as storybook characters with classics such as Wizard of Oz and Three Blind Mice, to newer favorites such as Matilda, Where’s Waldo and Harry Potter! Students paraded around the school enjoying Halloween music and waving at their friends and families! Thank you parents for supporting our students in their parade and classroom activities!

Specialty Classes

Specialties!!!!! If you have heard your student talking about everything they’re learning in art, music, library or PE…these are the amazing ladies behind it! Mrs. Mayo, Mrs. Patten, Mrs. Miller and Ms. Varney work closely with classroom teachers to plan and instruct students in ways that go along with each grade’s core!  They spend countless hours preparing meaningful experiences and lessons each day for students in their specialty classes!
