Submitted by courtney.corbin on

Every day, students in the lower grades spend time doing "Imagine Learning" in their classroom or the computer lab.  Imagine Learning is a individualized literacy-based software program that makes reading fun for students.  Students can play videos and songs, play games and listen to books. All activities are research-based and instructionally differentiated to meet specific student needs.

Students Learn Math Through Music!

Students at Taylor have loved having Mrs. Walker, district music specialist, come in and use patterns in math to create rhythm! Mrs. Provstgaard's third graders had a great time using the multiples of three to create music! Teachers and students have been incorporating specific music instruction into more of their everyday core lessons. We're looking forward to all that Mrs. Walker has to offer Taylor School!

Taylor's 'Reading Buddies' Tradition Continues

Fourth and fifth graders at Taylor Elementary have been working hard on remembering what their E.A.R.S. are for...reading out loud! Reading with Expression, Accuracy, Rate and Smoothness are things that a good reader does when they're reading aloud. Each Friday, the classes have the chance to show off their skills by reading to the three first grade classes. This is a fun opportunity for both grades to look forward to because it gives them a chance to practice reading, make new friends, and learn from each other.

Taylor's Teachers Trained in Music

As part of Nebo's GAINS program, all Taylor teachers are receiving specific training in music during the 2016-2017 school year.  Teachers spent the day using beat, rhythm, instruments and patterns to connect  to multiplication, division, fractions, number lines, and so much more!   Song lyrics were used to discuss theme, symbolism and interpretation.  This was an exciting day for teachers to celebrate their love for the arts and get specific instruction of how to use it best in their classrooms.
