Taylor Elementary would like to give a giant 'Thank you' to Walmart for donating BOXES of school supplies to the students of Taylor!!! Binders, tape, markers, pens, notepads, book covers, pencil pouches/boxes, crayons and much much more will soon be in the classrooms and hands of Taylor's students!! It is a great day to be a Tiger!!!
Fifth grade students are such a help to the first grade classes during Guided Math. While first grade teachers instruct, the fifth grade students help run math centers that reinforce learning. This is a fun opportunity for both grades to look forward to because it gives them a chance to practice math, make new friends, and learn from each other. This partnership is a long time tradition that has been happening at Taylor for more than 15 years! Upper grade students always remember when they were in first grade and the "big kids" helped them. What a great way to continue the community at Taylor Elementary! Many tiger, one roar!!!!
I really appreciate so much all the support we have seen as we are working hard to keep our students safe. I appreciate everyone moving forward in the student drop off area and not getting out of the cars and parking in this area. We are continuing to look at how we can ensure the safety of our students.
With yesterday being September 11th, your student had the wonderful opportunity to participate with the school in a flag ceremony, singing of the national anthem, and the pledge. As this commenced, we as a school administration asked the teachers to focus on the heroes that came immediately after the days events sixteen years ago. Good people around the world showed their kindness and love for each other by reaching out and helping save the lives of those hurt by this event. Instead of focusing on the the tragic events of 9/11, we wanted in emphasis the patriotism, kindness and heroism that was brought about because of that day. It was such a wonderful experience standing in the circle as our students sang the National Anthem and said the pledge. I couldn't help but fight back the tears. I love your students and the happiness they bring to our school.
We are so excited about our upcoming Hero Night. Attached you will see a newsletter from our PTA. This newsletter letter contains details about that night as well as other good information. I great appreciate all the hard work our PTA has done this year to help get our school up and running. I encourage anyone who would like to get involved to please come out and join this wonderful group. Great things are happening.
VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER that on MONDAY, September 18th we have an EARLY OUT! School will let out at 12:00 PM. Lunch will be served at at 10:40. Today, your 4th, 5th or 6th grade student came home with information about joining the 2017-2018 Tiger Choir! This is an amazing opportunity to be a part of the Taylor School legacy. Choir will meet on Tuesday and Thursday's after school from 3:15-3:45. More information is located on the golden colored note that came home this week! We can't wait to hear our school song, among other songs, echoing through the halls of Taylor!
Hi I'm Gina Miller and I am the new Librarian at Taylor Elementary! I am so excited to be here and to share my love of books. My husband and I have four kids, two attending Taylor Elementary, one at Mt. Nebo JH, and one at Salem Hill High School. I enjoy doing lots of different things like baking, gardening, reading, sewing, and wood working. This summer I refinished my kitchen cabinets.
"Speech-Language & Hearing: The beginning of the year means new screenings - hearing & speech screenings. The school hearing screenings are for Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 6th grades and will happen onFriday 8 September from 12:30-3:15 pm. The speech-language screenings are for the Kindergarten classes and will occur the first week of September. A dental varnishing note will come home with your student this week letting you know Dental Varnishing is scheduled for September 6th at Taylor School. Please sign the note either giving permission OR denying permission for dental varnishing.
Our school nurse, Mrs. Gardner, has even offered a small incentive to the class with the most returned notes! (saying either Yes or No). She can't wait to see who wins!!
