Fifth graders at Taylor School in Ms. Marlayne Harward, Mr, Ien Richins, and Mrs. Robin Provstgaard's classes got to experience the different movements of the earth's plates with 'Earthquake Cakes'.  Students decorated cakes to resemble a city, a cemetary, a farm and an ocean with an island.  Each cake had a different fault line that ran through it.  As the cakes were shaken like an earthquake, the students were able to see the destruction that each movement left behind.  There was even a magma intrusion that created an island in the ocean cake- that was the class' favorite!  After the devistation of the cakes, the students were then allowed to eat the cake!  This was more disturbing than the simulated earthquakes!!!  Thank you fifth grade teachers for making learning fun at Taylor!
