Getting to know….Mr. Hansen

What do you do at Taylor Elementary? I teach the best grade in the world . . .
5th grade

Where are you from and where do you live now? I grew up in a tiny place in
Sanpete County called Mayfield. More people go to Taylor Elementary than
lived there. After I got married and finished school we moved back to Mayfield
for nearly 10 years. Now I live in Salem.

What hobbies do you have? My biggest hobby is my kids. When I’m not
watching them play soccer, basketball, softball, gymnastics, or anything else
I enjoy playing the guitar, playing basketball, writing, and putting puzzles
together with my wife, Cari.

Who do you respect the most? There isn’t a person I respect more than my dad.
He was my sixth grade teacher and is the reason I’m a teacher. You won’t find
someone more positive or willing to help.

Who has had the most influence in your life? After what I wrote above, it better
be my dad.

What has been your favorite vacation? A few months after my wife and I got
married, we went to the northern island of New Zealand. We whitewater rafted
down the world’s tallest raft-able waterfall (18 ft,) body boarded down 300 foot
high sand dunes, and immersed ourselves in the Moari culture.

What super-power would you most like to have, and why? By far, if I could have
any super power I would want to reverse time. Being able to relive my best
memories and greatest experiences would surpass any other power . . . except
for maybe conjuring cookies out of thin air.

If you could tell the students and parents of Taylor Elementary anything, what
would it be? I love working at Taylor! I don’t think there are greater students
anywhere. Thank you for letting me teach your children. I can’t think of a better
place to be or a better thing to be than a tiger.
