Fourth graders at Taylor Elementary have been working hard on remembering what their E.A.R.S. are for...reading out loud!  Reading with Expression, Accuracy, Rate and Smoothness are things that a good reader does when they're reading aloud.  Each Friday, Mrs. Corbin and Ms. Wayman's classes have the chance to show off their skills by reading to the four first grade classes.  This is a fun opportunity for both grades to look forward to because it gives them a chance to practice reading, make new friends, and learn from each other.

Taylor's Principal Loves to Read

Taylor Elementary's principal, Mr. Daybell, loves when his students read.  Every morning he asks students about what they read the night before, he shares on the announcements what he's currently reading, and he loves to visit classrooms just to have a chance to read to students.  Mr. Daybell recently visited classrooms and read a book about Abraham Lincoln as well as one by one of his favorite authors, Patricia Polacco.  He read "The Bee Tree" to students saying he loves Patricia Polacco's books because she writes about what happens to her in her own life.

Taylor's second graders in Mrs. Anderton, Mrs. Grill and Ms. Talbot's classes had a fun visitor on Friday, The Payson Fire Department. Ren Zeeman, a local favorite, came to the school as part of second grade's "Safety Week". He spoke to students about being safe in a fire at home and at school. He showed his equipment and even passed around his helmet. Students were also allowed to go out to see one of Payson's shiny red fire trucks! This is always a favorite time of year for second grade students and Taylor is priviledged to have Payson's Fire Department visit each year.
