Taylor's First Grade is Opinionated!

First-grade students are full of ideas and opinions. Mrs. Charlotte Fullmer, Mrs. Penny Oakeson, Ms. Nicole Osborn and Mrs. Alissa Prestwich have been working with their first-grade students to organize their opinions and thoughts and write them down on paper with good supporting details.  Students then met in the gym and rotated through an 'inside-outside' circle where students used their listening and speaking skills to hear the share and hear the ideas of one another.  Teacher, Mrs.

Taylor students attend specialty classes once a week in an art, library, music and computer class. Each specialty teacher grades the classes based on good behavior, student participation and respectful noise levels during the time in each rotation.  Mr.

Taylor Elementary Upper Grades Visited Utah County K9 Officers

Students in fourth, fifth and sixth-grades at Taylor Elementary were recently visited by the Utah County Sherriff's K9 team.  During the month of February, students have been working hard to follow school and classroom rules in order to be able to attend the K9 visit.  Students were able to witness these highly-trained dogs search for drugs as well as a clip of bullets.

Sixth Grade King and Queen's Ball

Sixth-grade students in Mrs. Phena Brown, Mr. Rory Hansen and Mr. Ryan Wilson’s classes have spent a large amount of time learning about the middle ages.  Along with this study, students learn about different world religions, the value of the printing press as well as the meaning of chivalry in an etiquette lesson.  In order to use their new skills, students participated in an annual “King and Queen’s Ball”.  The young “knights” learned how to properly treat “Fair Maidens” while participating in a large banquet where their manners were tested while using goblets and fine linens.

March is Literacy Month at Taylor Elementary!

Taylor Elementary is known for being a school with dedicated readers.  Staff Developer, Tara Hunt, wanted a way to take that passion one step further and dedicate an entire month to the love of literacy!  In honor of famed author, Dr. Seuss' birthday, Taylor kicked off Literacy Month by a showing of the Cat in the Hat and listening to a read-a-loud of Green Eggs and Ham by Mr. Daybell in the gym.
