Acting Action in the Sixth Grade at Taylor

Submitted by courtney.corbin on

Taylor Elementary sixth graders enjoy learning about World History, especially the Egyptians.  One exciting way, sixth grade teacher, Phena Brown, has introduced her students to the past, is through the Arts.  Mrs. Brown’s students have been studying theatre and reading plays about the Egyptian culture.  Each student is assigned a role in the play, or as part of the stage crew. The sixth graders perform their play for one another sharing their newfound knowledge in both theatre and history.  Mrs. Brown says, “Integrating the Arts, especially theatre, is such a valuable way to teach my students.  The content becomes more concrete and the students enjoy what they’re learning”.  What a great way for Taylor’s students to learn about the world around them.
