A lot of parents today are wondering what to do with their kids and are frustrated because the old parenting techniques just don't seem to get the job done. Parents want to enjoy their kids, have fun with them, and enjoy a less stressful family life. Even if their kids are trouble-free right now, they fear what the coming teenage years will bring.
If you are dealing with difficult behaviors from your child at home or are interested in learning some new parenting skills and techniques then call and sign up for the Love and Logic classes being taught at Taylor Elementary.

Fourth graders at Taylor Elementary have been working hard on remembering what their E.A.R.S. are for...reading out loud! Reading with Expression, Accuracy, Rate and Smoothness are things that a good reader does when they're reading aloud. Each Friday, Mrs. Corbin and Ms. Wayman's classes have the chance to show off their skills by reading to the four first grade classes. This is a fun opportunity for both grades to look forward to because it gives them a chance to practice reading, make new friends, and learn from each other.
Taylor Elementary's principal, Mr. Daybell, loves when his students read. Every morning he asks students about what they read the night before, he shares on the announcements what he's currently reading, and he loves to visit classrooms just to have a chance to read to students. Mr. Daybell recently visited classrooms and read a book about Abraham Lincoln as well as one by one of his favorite authors, Patricia Polacco. He read "The Bee Tree" to students saying he loves Patricia Polacco's books because she writes about what happens to her in her own life.
Taylor's second graders in Mrs. Anderton, Mrs. Grill and Ms. Talbot's classes had a fun visitor on Friday, The Payson Fire Department. Ren Zeeman, a local favorite, came to the school as part of second grade's "Safety Week". He spoke to students about being safe in a fire at home and at school. He showed his equipment and even passed around his helmet. Students were also allowed to go out to see one of Payson's shiny red fire trucks! This is always a favorite time of year for second grade students and Taylor is priviledged to have Payson's Fire Department visit each year.
Taylor Elementary was surprised at school on Friday! Walmart representative, Leticia Vigil, surprised Principal Daybell and PTA President, DeAnn Thurgood with some exciting news. Walmart was donating 10, 500 Box Tops to Taylor Elementary for the school to use towards improving student learning. This equals out to $1050.00 for the school to use to purchase leveled library books, as well as interactive whiteboards. Fifth grade teacher, Robin Provstgaard, said, " It is gratifying to know Walmart recognizes the valuable resources we have in our students.
Taylor Tigers love to share their school spirit whenever they can get a chance. Sixth grade tigers, Dane Dutson, Keaton Reynolds, Kylie Reynolds and sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Brown participated in the Payson Onion Days 5K and 10K races. This was a fun chance to exercise and show their Tiger Pride for the town to see. Mrs. Brown is well known for her racing talents and that enthusiasm is spreading thick through the sixth grade!
