The School Community Council (SCC) plays an important role in partnering in the education of our children with the school, its staff and faculty and the district. Members are on the council for a two year period. Once a seat is empty, the school will hold nominations and elections either in the Spring or Fall for any empty seats. Nominations run for 2 weeks and then elections the following 2 weeks. Nominations and elections are held online and in person in the school office. If a seat becomes available during the year, the same process will be followed. Chair and Co-chair will be nominated and elected in the first council meetings. Please watch for information on nominations and elections in the first few weeks of every school year.
All parents and patrons are welcome to attend and participate in meetings and discussions. Council members will vote on decisions/plans approvals. Here is a link the the state's Trust Land website for further information. The following information is from The Shared Governance Handbook. The SCC provides a "cooperative means of improving the educational programs and conditions" within the school. Decisions and responsibilities allocated to the SCC by the Utah law includes:
Developing a School Improvement Plan (SIP)
Developing the School LAND Trust Program
Assisting in the development and implementation of a school professional development plan
