Penny Wars Raises Almost $2,000

Submitted by mindy.sumens on

Penny Wars is a Taylor tradition and took place last week. Grade levels compete to have the most pennies and the fewest bills and silver coins. This year our school earned almost $2,000 to help families from our area with Christmas this year.  Our 4th graders were the first place winners in the grade level competition. Today, 4th graders watched “Frosty the Snowman” and enjoyed some pizza from Mrs. Robbins, Mrs. Finch, and Mr. Cornwall!   Such a fun afternoon!   Thank you to all who donated to our Penny Wars this year!!!

Happy Holidays!

Rocco Mattinson Wins Scholarship for "Best in State" Cabbage

Submitted by mindy.sumens on

Last year’s third graders each received a baby cabbage plant from Bonnie Plants, with a goal to grow it over the summer and compete for $1000 scholarship prize.

Rocco Mattinson not only did this, but also won “Best in State”!  His cabbage weighed in at 13 lbs!!

Rocco told his class today he wants to be a police officer when he grown up. This $1000 and a summer of hard work, is definitely a step in the right direction!  Way to 'Reach for Your Potential' by pushing yourself to do amazing things!
