First-grade students are full of ideas and opinions. Mrs. Charlotte Fullmer, Mrs. Penny Oakeson, Ms. Nicole Osborn and Mrs. Alissa Prestwich have been working with their first-grade students to organize their opinions and thoughts and write them down on paper with good supporting details.  Students then met in the gym and rotated through an 'inside-outside' circle where students used their listening and speaking skills to hear the share and hear the ideas of one another.  Teacher, Mrs. Penny Oakeson, says, "The foundation for opinion writing begins at such an early age.  It is essential that students are taught to express their opinions and thoughts to an audience and be able to give their reasons adequate support."  First grade students are setting the rest of the school on the right track to  becoming great persuasive thinkers!
