Kindergarten Pirates

Taylor's kindergarten students in Mrs. Bradford and Mrs. Sumens' classes make the hallways brighter each day. One of the exciting things the students get to do in kindergarten is study maps. Students learned about physical features, maps and globes, land and water and cardinal directions on a map. To celebrate their new knowledge of maps, the kindergarten classes followed a pirate map and went on a treasure hunt to find burried treasure. Principal Billi Robbins met the students and shared the treasure of a good book. Good job kindergarten classes for working so hard in school!

Taylor students had their January Pirate Pride assembly. Pirates of the month, captains of the month, and crew of the month were announced. To begin the assembly, Mrs. Robbins helped get the students excited by dancing as an entire student body. She also played a video for the students about bullying, reminding students that they can step in and help their friends when needed. To fuel the school pride, students chanted the meaning of ROAR for all to hear! Pirates of the month were announced from each class along with crew and captains of the month.

Looking for Stories

Taken from paysonhistoricalsociety.blogspot.com May 2008 Kenna Holm Now the Taylor School was really neat. (As I remember it). We had a grassy play area, besides we could go across the street and play on the old Hospital lawn (which is now the City Center). We had a nice baseball diamond to the west of the school and I remember when I was in the sixth grade challenging the Peteetneet sixth grade girls to a baseball game. I don t remember who won but it was fun. I played first base and Jeri Taylor (Brimhall) played pitch, and I can’t remember who else but we had a good team.

Taylor Elementary is Searching for History!

Submitted by courtney.corbin on

It’s time for Taylor Elementary’s 150th birthday! Taylor was the first elementary school built in Payson, Utah. Since then, it’s been rebuilt many times but is still in the same location. We want to celebrate by collecting artifacts from former Taylor students. Pictures, certificates, awards, trophies, reflection entries, momentos, shirts, jerseys or any other artifacts reflecting Taylor’s past. We’ll be photographing your artifacts and making a Memory Wall to honor Taylor’s history.
