One of Taylor Elementary's favorite traditions is the performance put on by Payson High School's Choir.  Each year, the choir comes and sings a medley of Christmas songs that are both accompanied as well as performed accapella. Ethnic drumming is also added in a few numbers that really excite Taylor Elementary students.  Many thanks go to the high school students for setting such a great example to Taylor School of musical talents, performance abilities and hard work!

Taylor's Fifth Grade History Fair

Submitted by courtney.corbin on Fri, 01/24/2014 - 15:10

Taylor Elementary's fifth grade students in Mr. Rory Hansen and Mr. Ien Richins' classes recently participated in their annual "History Fair".  Students researched and presented themselves as a person that gave a significant contribution to American History.  The gym was full of characters such as Elvis Presley, Walt Disney, Alexander Graham Bell, Rosa Parks, Amelia Airhart, Neal Armstrong and Babe Ruth.  Fourth grade student Kyler Newton says, "It was really cool to see all the different people.  I can tell it will take a lot of work next year when I am in 5th grade."   Mr. Richins says of the fair, "Students enjoy the 'History Fair' each year because these historical figures become more than just a name in a book. In a way, they get to know them personally."  Thank you Taylor Tigers for teaching our students about our country's important historical figures.

Third Graders Perform for Taylor Elementary

Submitted by courtney.corbin on Wed, 01/22/2014 - 12:42

Taylor Elementary's third grade students delighted the school and parents each Christmas with their performance of an "All American Christmas".  This year's performance was a showcase of favorite songs from around the country showcasing the joys of the Christmas traditions that are shared.  Teachers Cammie Charles, Melanie Ellsworth and Robin Provstgaard enjoy watching the children learn and perform songs as well as speaking parts that even included a special musical number using musical instruments.   Fourth grade student, Kyler Tischner says, "It was pretty cool to watch the program that we performed last year and still remember the songs!"   Thank you third grade Taylor Tigers for helping keep the traditions alive at Taylor Elementary!

Taylor Students Read for Prizes

Submitted by courtney.corbin on Tue, 01/21/2014 - 15:49

Taylor Elementary students have been doing a lot of reading each night as part of being "Unstoppable!" at school. Students were awarded a tickets for meeting their weekly reading requirement and those tickets were put into a drawing at the annual "Shooting for Bucks" assembly!   Students gathered in the gym for another exciting assembly where avid reader, Mr. Daybell, passed out money and prizes each time a name was drawn from the pile!   Several students had read so much during the year, their names were pulled multiple times!  Way to go Taylor Tigers for being "Unstoppable!"  IT STILL PAYS TO READ!
