Fourth graders at Taylor Elementary have been working hard on remembering what their E.A.R.S. are for...reading out loud! Reading with Expression, Accuracy, Rate and Smoothness are things that a good reader does when they're reading aloud. Each Friday, Mrs. Corbin, Mrs. Grill and Mrs. Tracy's classes have the chance to show off their skills by reading to the three first grade classes. This is a fun opportunity for both grades to look forward to because it gives them a chance to practice reading, make new friends, and learn from each other. This is a long time tradition that has been happening at Taylor for more than 10 years! Fourth grade students always remember when they were in first grade and the "big kids" read to them. What a great way to continue the community at Taylor Elementary!
S.E.P. night was recently held at Taylor Elementary. Not only was this a chance for students and parents to sit down with their teacher and discuss progress, goals and accomplishments, but an amazing art gallery was showcased as well. Mrs. Patten, Taylor's talented art teacher, transformed her classroom into an art gallery that displayed student work throughout the term. This was a favorite for many to visit because students were able to show off the talents they've been developing in visual arts. Thanks Mrs.Patten and Taylor students for displaying your individual talents for others to see.

I have been meaning to send this out for a couple of weeks, but just haven’t found the time. I just want to say thank you for a great start to the school year. I appreciate all of the support you have given to me and all of the staff at Taylor School.
We have started a few new programs this year to make our school a better place for kids to be. We have reorganized how students come in to the building at the beginning of school. This may seem small, but the majority of our problems were during these transitions. To date this has eliminated all student problems during this time. It has also made it easier to supervise every student.
We have also started using a school wide plan for recognizing students for good behavior and giving tickets out to help correct behavior that is unwanted. To date we have handed out over 200 Tiger Pride certificates and less than 5 tickets. The kids have loved the phone calls home and I hope you have enjoyed hearing about the good things your children have done. I believe this program has really helped create a more caring environment in our school.
I love being the principal at Taylor School the last six years and having the opportunity to be with your children. I care for each one individually and will do whatever I can do in my power to help them in any way I can. Thank you for all of the support and friendship.
